OUR WORLD NEXUS MARKETPLACE | TERMS OF SERVICE
Welcome to Our World Nexus Marketplace (“OWN Marketplace,” “we,” “our,” “us”).
This is not a conventional marketplace built on extraction. Our World Nexus is a Pan-African economic movement built to expand ownership, amplify trusted Black voices, move knowledge through educational commerce, strengthen Black businesses, build Black political power, circulate value with purpose, and create lasting generational wealth.
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of OurWorldNexus.com, including all services, features, and offerings.
By accessing or using this site, you agree to be legally bound by these Terms. Continued use of the platform constitutes acceptance of these Terms.
Acceptance of Terms
By browsing, creating an account, or making a purchase, you agree to comply with these Terms and all applicable laws and regulations.
Who We Are
Our World Nexus is an unconventional Pan-African marketplace and economic movement connecting buyers, vendors, creators, educators, and aligned partners across:
- The African continent
- The global Diaspora
- Aligned allies worldwide
We provide the vision, infrastructure, technology, standards, and trusted environment needed to connect Africa, the Diaspora, and our allies through purposeful commerce.
Our World Nexus is built to expand ownership, strengthen Black businesses, amplify trusted Black voices, move knowledge through educational commerce, build Black political power, and circulate more value within our communities.
We are not building a platform that collects endless vendors, pushes endless products, or extracts wealth from the people doing the work.
We are building a marketplace rooted in culture, partnership, accountability, and long-term economic power.
Vendors remain responsible for the products, services, information, fulfillment, shipping, customer support, and business practices connected to their stores.
Our World Nexus provides the marketplace infrastructure, facilitates transactions, maintains platform records, supports customer and vendor relationships, and enforces the standards established for the marketplace.
Our World Nexus does not manufacture, own, or control independent vendor products unless a product is specifically identified as an Our World Nexus product or collection.
You Bring the Products, Vision, Knowledge, and Impact.
OWN Marketplace facilitates transactions but does not own, produce, or control vendor products.
We Are Not Amazon. We Do Not Extract. We Build Together.
User Responsibilities
You agree to:
- Use the platform lawfully
- Provide accurate and truthful information
- Respect all users, vendors, and staff
- Take full responsibility for your actions and transactions
Violation may result in suspension or termination.
Vendor Responsibilities
If you operate a store, you agree to:
- List products accurately (pricing, availability, fulfillment times)
- Respond to customers promptly and professionally
- Sell only products you are legally authorized to distribute
- Comply with all applicable laws (including FDA, FTC, customs, and international trade laws)
- Maintain alignment with Our World Nexus Marketplace standards
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate vendors who violate these principles.
Our World Nexus Marketplace does not guarantee sales, visibility, or business success for vendors.
Customer Relationships and Vendor Access
Our World Nexus is built as a partnership, not an extraction system.
When a customer purchases from a vendor through Our World Nexus, the vendor receives access to the customer information needed to fulfill the order, provide support, manage returns, answer questions, and maintain the customer relationship connected to that vendor’s store.
Vendors communicate with their customers about orders and other transactional matters. Vendors send promotional or marketing communications only when the customer has separately agreed to receive those communications and only in accordance with applicable law.
Our World Nexus will maintain customer and transaction records as needed to operate the marketplace, process payments, prevent fraud, provide customer service, manage refunds and disputes, comply with tax and legal duties, protect the platform, and maintain accurate business records.
Our World Nexus will not use a vendor’s customer relationship to compete against that vendor. We will not use vendor-specific customer information to market competing products or unrelated vendors to that customer unless the customer has separately chosen to receive broader communications from Our World Nexus.
Customers may be given separate choices to receive:
- Communications from the vendor they purchased from
- Marketplace news, educational content, product updates, and offers from Our World Nexus
- Other communications clearly described at the time consent is requested.
Choosing to receive marketing from Our World Nexus will not automatically enroll the customer in marketing from every vendor. Likewise, choosing to receive marketing from a vendor will not automatically enroll the customer in broader Our World Nexus marketing.
Customers may withdraw marketing consent or unsubscribe at any time. Transactional communications necessary to complete an order, provide account information, address safety or security concerns, or manage an existing customer relationship may still be sent when permitted by law.
If a Vendor Leaves the Marketplace
If a vendor leaves or is removed from Our World Nexus, the vendor’s access to the live marketplace system and customer database will end.
Subject to applicable law, customer permissions, security requirements, unresolved disputes, and the vendor agreement, the vendor may receive an approved export of customer information connected to its own completed orders and store relationships.
Our World Nexus may continue to retain customer and transaction records for legitimate operational, security, financial, tax, dispute-resolution, and legal purposes.
A vendor’s departure does not give Our World Nexus automatic permission to market to that vendor’s customers. Our World Nexus may continue sending promotional or educational communications only to customers who separately agreed to receive communications from Our World Nexus.
A vendor’s departure does not give Our World Nexus automatic permission to market to that vendor’s customers. Our World Nexus may continue sending promotional or educational communications only to customers who separately agreed to receive communications from Our World Nexus.
Protection of Customer Information
Vendors may use customer information only for approved business purposes connected to their store and customer relationships. Vendors may not sell, rent, trade, disclose, scrape, misuse, or transfer customer information to unauthorized parties.
Vendors must protect customer information, limit access to people who need it for approved business purposes, and follow all applicable privacy, security, and marketing laws.
Our World Nexus may suspend or terminate vendor access when customer information is misused or placed at risk.
Payment Processing
We partner with trusted third-party processors, including but not limited to:
- PayPal, Stripe, Apple Pay, Google Pay
- Paystack, Flutterwave, DPO Group, Onafriq, Dusupay
- Kora, Korapay, Hubtel, Ozow, Stitch
All payments are processed securely through these providers.
OWN Marketplace does not store full payment details. Payment data is handled directly by secure third-party processors.
Data Security and Service Providers
Our World Nexus uses secure, encrypted connections and trusted service providers to operate the marketplace and protect transactions.
Payments are processed by Stripe. Stripe may receive payment, billing, device, and transaction information needed to process payments, prevent fraud, authenticate transactions, issue refunds, and meet legal requirements. Our World Nexus does not store complete payment-card numbers on its own systems. Stripe requires merchants to tell customers that Stripe processes personal data in connection with its services.
We do not sell or rent customer information. We do not share customer information with outside parties for their independent marketing purposes.
We may share only the information reasonably necessary with service providers that help us process payments, host and secure the website, send communications, calculate taxes, create shipping labels, deliver orders, prevent fraud, provide customer support, or comply with legal obligations.
These providers may use customer information only as permitted by their agreements, privacy policies, and applicable law.
Refunds & Disputes
All sales are governed by our Refund & Shipping Policy.
- Refund eligibility is determined by the individual vendor, within platform guidelines
- Disputes must be submitted through our Contact Support page first
- Payment disputes (chargebacks) must be handled with the payment provider
Our World Nexus Marketplace does not guarantee refunds unless required by law or explicitly stated by the vendor.
Intellectual Property
Unless otherwise stated, the original platform content—including Our World Nexus branding, written messaging, graphics, designs, educational materials, page layouts, and other original content—is owned by Our World Nexus, LLC, its affiliates, or its licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.
Vendor names, logos, product images, descriptions, trademarks, and other vendor-submitted materials remain the property of the vendor or their respective owners. Vendors grant Our World Nexus the limited permission needed to display, promote, distribute, and operate that content through the marketplace.
Termination
We may suspend or terminate accounts for:
- Violating these Terms
- Fraud, deception, or abuse
- Harm to the platform or community
Termination may occur without prior notice.
Modifications
We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use = acceptance of updated Terms.
Limitation of Liability
Our World Nexus Marketplace is a facilitator, not the seller of record.
We are not liable for:
- Vendor actions or product quality
- Shipping delays or damages
- Financial losses or business outcomes
By using this platform, you acknowledge that all decisions, purchases, and interactions are made at your own discretion and responsibility.
International Trade & AGOA-Eligible Goods
Our World Nexus supports international commerce connecting Africa, the Diaspora, and aligned buyers worldwide. Products from eligible Sub-Saharan African countries may qualify for AGOA trade benefits when all country, product, origin, documentation, and U.S. import requirements are met.
- AGOA eligibility applies to qualifying countries and goods—not automatically to every African product or transaction.
- Vendors are responsible for accurate product descriptions, country-of-origin information, export documents, and legal compliance.
- Buyers may be responsible for customs duties, import taxes, brokerage charges, and other destination-country fees.
- Final eligibility, classification, and entry decisions are made by the proper customs authorities.
- Our World Nexus does not guarantee that any shipment will receive duty-free or preferential treatment.
What AGOA Eligibility Means
AGOA eligibility means that certain products from countries designated by the United States as eligible Sub-Saharan African beneficiaries may enter the United States with reduced or duty-free treatment.
- The exporting country being currently approved for AGOA benefits
- The product being covered by the program
- The product meeting applicable country-of-origin rules
- Required records and customs documents being completed correctly
- U.S. Customs and Border Protection accepting the claim
A country’s AGOA status does not mean every product from that country automatically qualifies. Eligible countries are reviewed by the U.S. government, and product treatment depends on the merchandise and its origin.
Our World Nexus does not determine AGOA eligibility and does not guarantee preferential or duty-free treatment. Final decisions are made by the appropriate customs authorities.
